Men's Journal, May, 2007
What it is
Invented by the Hungarian dancer and self-described "universal being" Juliu Horvath, the Gyrotonic Expansion System is quietly catching on in major cities. Forbes.com says it could be "the big trend in 2007." We tried it at New York's Kinespirit Studio.
The Claim
Stretches the spine and strengthens the arms, legs, back, and core, creating "a balanced support system for the skeleton."
How It Feels
Like air-swimming with ropes attached to your limbs. You get used to it.
Level of Difficulty
Easy at first, but strenuous with heavier weights. Quickly exposes balnace and coordination problems. But you shouldn't be sore the next day.
