Senior Trainer - Pilates

About Anne Kuite

Anne Kuite is a dancer and teacher of dance and Pilates, and is a nationally Certified Pilates Teacher through the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA-CPT®). Anne received her teacher training through Polestar Pilates in Miami after many years of study in New York with Irene Dowd and several of her protégé. As a Pilates teacher for over 10 years, Anne works with private clients, and groups large and small in mat classes with props. Clients include fitness beginners, post- rehabilitation, those with special conditions (Parkinson’s, Osteoporosis), and dancers and athletes. Anne continues to study Pilates, dance, Iyengar yoga, anatomy, kinesiology, neurology and the biomechanics of movement. From 2010 to 2018, Anne served on the dance faculty of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, teaching modern dance and somatic movement, as well as dance improvisation and composition. As a frequent choreographic collaborator with Frost Opera Theater, Anne also led classes and workshops in movement for singers. She has created choreography for her beginning dancers, “Untitled”, (2018), and for the Frost Opera Theater productions “Jackie O” (2014), “The Magic Flute” (2013), and created the movement and libretto for “Beatrice Bends for Her Blue Ball” (2009). Her choreography has been performed in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York and Maine. She is currently working on a new solo, “I have to have some idea where Center is”, performed at the 92 nd Street Y in January 2019. Originally from Chicago, Anne’ teaching career began with dance positions at New Trier, Mather, and Lyons Township High Schools, and faculty positions at Millikin University and Harper College. She holds degrees in Dance Education from Illinois State University, and an MFA in Dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In addition, Ms. Kuite spent 20 years in arts administration, working in development, arts programming and events management at the Joyce Theater and Wave Hill, a public garden in the Bronx, and The Graduate Center of CUNY. Anne currently serves as the Director of Development for Ballet and Beyond NYC, a group providing summer and after-school ballet training for children ages 8 to 16 with the mission to bring young people the joy of artistic expression through dance. In 2018, after living in Miami for 11 years, Anne happily returned “home” to New York-New Jersey. She currently manages a busy private practice of fitness and special needs Pilates- based neuromuscular reeducation clients.
