Christa came to Gyrotonic via dance, but not without some zigs and zags along the way.Having studied ballet as a child at the Princeton Ballet School, and as a teen in Chicago at Ruth Page and Chicago City Ballet, then at Ohio Ballet, she went on to major in Ballet at Indiana University’s prestigious School of Music. During college, she discovered a love of designing costumes and clothing, and upon graduation she moved to NYC to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology. After a successful career in the corporate fashion world, and having a family, Christa took a step back and decided to make some drastic life changes. Rediscovering her love of dance and movement was one of them. In 2011, Christa was introduced to Gyrotonic as a means to correct structural and muscular imbalances in her body, and work smarter and more efficiently in her dancing. Hooked on the way it made her look and feel, she immediately decided to become certified and teach the method to others. She has trained with several of the Gyrotonic Master Trainers based in NYC, including Chantal Deeble and Juergen Bamberger. Christa enjoys teaching Gyrotonic and when she’s not doing that, you can find her working as a freelance fashion stylist and photo editor, mothering two teenage daughters, and taking ballet class several times a week, in addition to yoga and of course, practicing Gyrotonic herself! Her clients range from prenatal women to seniors, teens, dancers, and others. Christa believes there is something for everyone in the Gyrotonic Expansion Method!
