Lori Ann is a disciplined, dynamic, free spirit who constantly challenges herself. All her life, she has been curious and open to exploring different methods of movement –from sports, martial arts, and intense Army ROTC training, to dancing ballet, jazz and other dance styles. She is grateful to have discovered the GYROTONIC® Expansion System. The hustle and chaos of city life can often distract us from taking time for self-care and checking in with our bodies; however, a consistent Gyrotonic practice reminds us that we are all capable of healing ourselves. Each session encourages us to connect with our breath and develop proper technique to enhance performance potential and prevent injuries. As her Gyrotonic practice has continued, Lori Ann has noticed a subtle yet powerful transformation in her movement quality and body awareness, especially while dancing. She believes in the importance of working from the inside out and allowing the breath to initiate and guide movement. She loves how Gyrotonic has allowed her to discover a fuller expression of movement and how to work efficiently from a place of calm. In 2015, she completed her GYROTONIC® Foundations Course under the guidance of Master Trainer, Chantal Deeble, and more recently became a GYROKINESIS® teaching apprentice. Currently, she trains in World Jazz and Latin Fusion with Cecilia Marta and Theatre with Vic Dimonda. She has worked closely with director/choreographer, Maija Garcia on various projects ranging from Native American storytelling and puppetry, to Afro-Cuban contemporary dance and Cuban Salsa. Lori Ann is also a registered nurse and a strong advocate for self-care and health promotion. Her patients inspire her to be thankful for good health and to celebrate a strong, agile body every day. The principles of Gyrotonic ensure longevity in her career as a professional dancer and nurse. Now, as an instructor, she is able to share the transformative, restorative benefits of a Gyrotonic practice with her students. Her goal is to help her clients discover the freedom and joy in dancing their spine and hopes they will leave each session feeling rejuvenated, confident and stronger.
